A son of Isaac Abraham Jacobs, he was born at Bathurst, Australia, in 1857. He married Eliza Jones at Condobolin, New South Wales, in 1887. They had children:

3 Alfred J, born at Condobolin in 1893.
4 Esther, born at Condobolin in 1896.
5 Rebecca, born at Condobolin in 1898.
