CARRIE DEAN

Born 10th June 1859 - Died 13th February 1944

 

 

A daughter of Reverend Samuel Chase Dean, she was born in Ahmednuggur, India, on June 10th 1859, and died 13th February 1944 at Lincoln, Nebraska.

She graduated S B from Doane College in 1880, afterwards receiving the degrees of BA and MA; she was a post-graduate at Chicago University, Illinois; she studied music, Roman history and Italian in Italy, and became a teacher of music and Latin in Bennet Semenary, Minneapolis, Minnesota, in the period 1881 to 1887; she taught at Gates College, Nebraska, between 1889-1899 and 1893-1894; she was a member of the Congragational Church from 1872 onwards; she was also an officer of the YPSCE and the Missionary Society, and a member of choirs in various places, also funcioning as an organist in Wilmette.
