WILLIAM JACOB
OF BOUGHTON-UNDER-BLEAN

Baptized 3rd April 1569 - Buried 23rd August 1625

A son of John Jacob of Cheriton, he was baptized on 3rd April 1569 at Cheriton. He held property in Godmersham, as also in Deane and Trapham, Kent. This property was held by an Edward Jacob at a slightly earlier date, and it may well be that there is a family connection with Edward Jacob, who was Mayor of Fordwich in 1558. There is another William who held this property, possibly a son of this man. The Dictionary of National Biography states that Henry Jacob, William's brother, held a patrimony in Godmersham. This requires further research. William's will is dated in 1625.
