Northern Neck of Virginia, Proprietior’s Office, No 361 to Mr Richard Rigg.

Whereas Conra= d Devo of Frederick County hath informed that there= are about 400 acres of wasted and ungranted land adjoining lands of John Painter, Michael Garner, William Ewens and George Jacob Troutvine on Stephen’s Run, a branch of Crooked Run, in the said county...= and desiring a warrant to survey the same in order to obtain a deed being ready= to pay the composition and office fees, there are therefore (lacking)... impower you to survey the said waste to ungranted lands for the said Conrad Devo paying due regard to the instructions, a plo= t of which survey with this warrant you are to return to this office on or before the 18^th day of November next given under my hand and the office= the said 18^th day of May 1771.

In the name and by the authority of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Joseph Hiester of the said Commonwealth to Henry = Welles of the county of Bradford Esquire SENDS GREETING.... KNOW YE that reposing especial confidence in your zeal, valor, patrio= tism and fidelity I have appointed and by these presents I do appoint and command you the said Henry Welles, one= of my Aids-de-Camp, with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the militia of the said Commonwealth... TO HAVE and to hold the said office, with all rights and po= wers thereunto lawfully appertaining, until this appointment and commission shal= l be by me or other lawful authority superseded and annulled.

In testimony whereof I have set my hand and caused the= great seal of the state to be affixed to these presents, in the year of our Lord = 1821 and of the Commonwealth the 46^th.

ATHENS, in the COUNTY OF BRADFORD, PENNSYLVANIA     1833

Indenture made 16^th October 1833 by and bet= ween Robert Oliver of the city of Balt= imore and state of Maryland of the first part, and Obadiah Spalding of the township of Athens in the county of Bradford and state of Pennsylvania of t= he second part.... WITNESSETH that for an in consideration of $5 secured to be paid by the said Obadiah Spalding<= /b>... unto the said Robert Oliver...= . the said Robert Oliver HATH granted bargained and sold.... ALL that bit of land lying and being in the said bor= ough of Athens aforesaid, on which h= e has a house etc.... lying on the west side of and bounded on the east by the ma= in street leading through the said borough, on the north of land of Horace Williston, on the west by = the Cheming river, on the south by the land of James Hopkinson, and on the east = by the said main street, being 12 perches in width and containing 12 acres... toge= ther with all by virtue of a deed of trust to him from Richard Cahn Esquire, for certain purposes therein expressed be= ing dated 13^th March 1825 and recorded in the deed book of Bradford County, number 5, page 425 etc.... to have and to hold forever....
