RUDOLF NIEDBALLA

 

 

Some twenty or more years ago, when I needed some new armorial letterheads to be printed, I thought I might like at the same time to have new dies engraved. Asking a friend of mine, well experienced in such matters, he advised to ask Rudolf Niedballa for a quote. He was considered to be one of the top three engravers in the world. I obtained a quote, but quite frankly the price was beyond me. I found the man fascinating, however, and my wife and I visited him at his home in the Muensterland, Germany subsequently. He very kindly gave me samples of his work.
