PEDIGREE OF ARUNDEL


Sir John de Arundel married Alianor, daughter of John, and granddaughter and heir of John Lord Mautravers; she was born in 1346 and died on 10th January 1405. Sir John died on 15th December 1379 and was buried at Lewes. They had issue:


1 Sir John de Arundel, born on 3rd November 1364, died on 14th August (?) 14 Rich II.
2 Sir William de Arundel KG, Governor of Rochester; he died in August 1400.
3 Sir Richard de Arundel of Wychampton, Dorset. He died 3rd June 1419. He married Alice, the widow of Roger Burley and the had issue.
4 Joan de Arundel. She married twice. First to Sir William de Briene Knight, 2nd son of Sir Guy de Briene, and second to William Etchingham.
5 Margaret de Arundel, who died 3rd July 1439. She married William Lord Ros, of Hamlake, who died 1st September 1414.

Sir John de Arundel named above married Elizabeth, daughter of Edward Lord Despenser, who died 11th April 1408 and was buried at Tewkesbury Abbey. She married secondly William Lord Zouch of Haringworth. Sir John and Elizabeth had issue:

1 Sir John de Arundel, Lord Mautravers on the death of his grandmother. In 1416 he had livery of the castle of Arundel, but was never summoneded to Parliament. Born on 1st August 1385, he died on 21st April 1421 and was buried at Arundel. He married Eleanor, daughter of Sir John Berkeley of Belverston, she died circa July 1455 and was buried at Arundel. They had issue.

2 Sir Edward Arundel, knight, of Aynho, born circa 1387, died in November 1412, without issue. He married Elizabeth, daughter of Sir John Scragill.

3 Sir Thomas Arundel, knight, of Beechworth, died circa 1430-1431. He married Joane,
daughter of Henry Molyns. She re-married Thomas Vaughan before 1437.

Sir Thomas Arundel had issue:

Eleanor Arundel, his only surviving child and heir, who married Sir Thomas Browne knight, under-treasurer to King Henry VI; he died on 20th July 1460. His widow remarried Thomas Vaughan in circa 1437.

Sir Thomas Browne had issue:

Eleanor, daughter who married ----- Fogge
