PEDIGREE OF A JAQUES FAMILY

Arms of Jaques of Easby Abbey and Silton, Yorkshire:

Sa. on a fesse engr. ar. a lion pass. of the first, Crest: A lion's head erased gu. wounded through the neck with a sword ar. hilted and pommelled or.

The following pedigree is taken from a loose page I acquired many years ago. On the reverse begins a description of Easby Manor. I have not had the time to try and identify the book from whence it came.

I have accumulated many references to this family over the years, largely from the 14th - 16th centuries; I hope to add these to this pedigree in due course. In earlier periods many of this family were referred to as Jacob, rather than Jakes. Whether this was a Latinification of the name for written records, I know not.
