William Julius Mickle, the noted Scottish poet, born 29th September 1734 at Langholm, Scotland, died 25th October 1788 at Forest Hill, near Oxford. He married Mary Tompkins, born in 1748, died in 1811. They had a son:

Charles Julius Mickle, born 27th September 1783 in Forest Hill. He moved to Upper Canada (Guelph) in April 1832. He married Sarah, daughter of Samuel Richards of Southgate, Middlesex, England. She was born in 1782 and died 4th May 1859. They had a son:

Charles Mickle, born in 1812 in Islington, Middlesex. A lumber entrepreneur, he built ‘Langholm’, Eramosa Twp near Guelph; he died in 1879. He married Ellen Thurtell, the daughter of Benjamin Thurtell and granddaughter of John Thurtell of Hobland Hill, in Norfolk, England. They had children:

2 Anne , born in 1846, died in 1932. She married J J Bell.
3 Louisa Emily, born in 1848, died unmarried in 1910.
4 Charles Mickle, born in 1849, died in 1929.

6 Alice , died in infancy.
7 Sarah , born in 1854, died in 1930.
8 Edith , born in 1856, died in 1937. She married Dr Bertram Spencer.
9 Herbert Mickle, born in 1858, died in 1937.
10 Henry Walter Mickle, born in 1861, died in 1933.
11 George Reginald Mickle, born in 1863, died in 1941.
12 Jessie Marion, born in1865, died in1947. She married the Reverend George Penrose Woollcombe.
13 Alfred Ernest Mickle ARCA, born in 1869, died in 1966.
