The son of Xavier Kessler, he married twice. By his first wife, Ellen Wissink, of the Netherlands, born 5th April1933, he had a son:

1 Jan-Peter, born 20th June 1954, who married Sophie Stamoglou.

He married secondly Ruth Rohrer, born 22nd March 1937, died 20th May 2001. They had children:

1 Serge Andreas , born 9th April 1964.
2 Urs Peter , born 13th September 1965.
3 Janine Doris, 27th July 1966.
