REVEREND DR WILLIAM WOOLLCOMBE

Born in c 1787 - Died 18th January 1862

 

Of East Worlington, in Devon, he was a son of the Reverend William Woollcombe. He was born in c 1787 and died on 18th January 1862. He married Elizabeth Reynolds, who was christened on 14th December 1785 at St Clement in Cornwall, and died at Christowe in 1856. They had children:

1 Carthew Reynolds, born in 1820
2 Philip, born in 1821, died in 1898.
3 Jane Vivian, born in 1823, died in 1892. She married Reverend William Woollcombe-Boyce.
4 Frederick R.N., born in 1825, died in 1855.
5 William Penrose, born 13th November 1827, died 26th March 1899.

Elizabeth Reynolds was a daughter of Rear-Admiral Robert Carthew Reynolds of Penair, near Truro, in Cornwall, and sister of Sir Barrington Reynolds GCB, Admiral of the Blue; she was also niece of Sir Joshua Reynolds.

He attended Blundells School in Tiverton, Devon from 8th August 1796 until 30th June 1801. He went on to Corpus Christi College in Oxford, matriculating 14th May 1801, aged 14, BA 1805, MA 1808, BD 1816, Fellow 1812-1819. He was ordained priest on 24th May 1812, and was ordained vicar of Hennock in Devon in 1847; he was also vicar of Christowe in Devon..
